Hyperlinks

You can link an object to a website, another Smart Notebook Page, a different file on your computer or a file residing in the Attachments Tab. To do this you need to click on Link... in the object drop-down menu.

The Insert Link window will open

Choose what kind of link you would like. You can choose at the bottom how you want the link to open by either clicking on the icon in the lower left hand side of the object or by just clicking on the object itself.

Handwriting Recognition

If you use the pen tool to write something in the Work Area you have the option of converting your handwriting into text. This tool is most useful when using the interactive whiteboard and not so much on your personal computer, though it does have some teaching applications when developing lessons on the computer.

Select the handwritten word object then click the drop down menu. The first choices will be what typed word Smart Notebook recognizes. You can also change the language that Smart Notebook uses. This can be helpful when teaching other languages.

Shape Recognition

Like Handwriting Recognition, Shape Recognition recognizes handwritten shapes and creates a perfect shape to match. Shapes can also be recognized as letters and numbers
After drawing a shape with a pen tool click on the drop-down menu and choose Recognize Shape.

You can also use the Shape Pen icon from the Smart Toolbar to draw instant shapes. The pen will notice the what shape you create and straighten the object when finished

Typed Text

To add typed text as an object in the Smart Notebook, click the Text Object Icon, pick a spot in the Work Area then type in your text.

Clicking the Text Object Icon opens a sub-menu with quick access to particular text colors, fonts and size

Once you click the work area this menu appears giving you the usual choices for text editing.

Clicking the Mathematical Symbols icon opens the Mathematical sub-menu

Check Spelling

Any typed text or text that has been through handwritten recognition can be submitted to a spelling check. To check the spelling of a word or a collection of words, choose the text object then chose the drop-down and then Check Spelling...

After the click the Check Spelling window opens.

Chose the correct spelling by clicking Change. If you want another option chose that.

When filling out a text box you activate the Spell Checker which will place a red line under any word you have misspelled when typing. Then you can correct the word while typing
